The 41st Alternative Hair Show took place in London on 14th and 15th October. Hairdreams was there to experience all the excitement of this charity event, and we’ve summarised our insights about this charity event in this blog
A Charity Event for Children with Leukaemia
The Alternative Hair Show is the charity event in the hair industry, held annually in support of children suffering from leukaemia. Its primary objective is to fund research in the field of paediatric blood cancer in children. Both ticket sales and donations collected during the evening go towards this important research. The event took place at the Troxy Art Deco Theatre, which can accommodate up to 3,000 guests. This year, a remarkable £121,000 was raised in donations.
What is the Alternative Hair Show?
The Alternative Hair Show is a two-part event that celebrates the best and brightest in the hairdressing industry. The first part of the show is a competition, where hairdressers from all over the world compete in three categories: men, avant-garde, and cutting & colour.
The finalists then go head-to-head in a final round to determine the winners, who are awarded the opportunity to present their own live show at the following year’s event. The second part of the show is a showcase of hair art works from the previous year’s winners.
The winners present their work in a spectacular show, which is packed with creativity and innovation. On Saturday and Sunday, there is also a trade fair where companies from the hair industry can showcase their products and services.
Hairdreams at the Alternative Hair Show
A bunch of our team members headed to the Alternative Hair Show on Saturday to check out the trade fair. The day was filled with impressive booths, great conversations with industry colleagues, and a one-of-a-kind vibe. Our Hairdreamers were particularly excited for Sunday evening’s grand finale: The Alternative Hair Show.
This year, one of our partners was part of the show: Lorenzo Marchelle. He’s a winner from last year, and he created a variety of creative hairstyles that he presented live to the audience.
One of the four looks in total was styled with Hairdreams extensions. We’re proud to have been part of the show through Lorenzo Marchelle and look forward to more projects with this Italian hair artist.
